The Plant Protection Research Institute

The Institute has 117 staff members in its workforce, including 27 PhDs, 65 Masters, 22 Bachelor's degree holders, and 3 technical staff members.

- The Plant Protection Institute is a scientific research entity under the Vietnam Agricultural Science Institute. Its responsibilities include scientific research and technology transfer concerning pests, beneficial organisms on crops in agriculture and forestry, plant quarantine subjects, and plant protection products nationwide. The Institute's headquarters is located in Đức Thắng Ward, Bắc Từ Liêm District, Hanoi City.

Functions:

- Develop long-term, five-year, and annual research programs, projects, and plans in the fields of Agriculture and Forestry to support the socio-economic development of the country, submitting them for approval by competent authorities and organizing their implementation.

Scientific research and technology transfer in the following fields:

-Conduct basic investigations on pests, beneficial organisms, and establish genetic resources related to organisms in plant protection; preserve and develop national standard reference collections for insects, diseases, weeds, agricultural microorganisms, and natural pest enemies.

-Study pests, diseases, weeds, and other harmful organisms affecting agriculture and forestry, and develop pest control solutions.

-Research and apply biological methods in plant protection.

-Study toxicity, residues, develop plant protection products, and explore solutions for their safe use in food hygiene and environmental protection.

- Research and identify plant quarantine objects.

- Assess risks and manage pest control to ensure the safe production of agricultural products.

- Participate in research and development of pest-resistant crops with high yield and good quality, suitable for the ecological regions of the country./p>

- Conduct surveys and testing of plant protection products.

- Implement agricultural extension services and forestry extension services in the field of plant protection.

- Foster international cooperation in research, technology transfer, expert collaboration, and human resource training in the field of plant protection with domestic organizations, in accordance with state regulations.

- Establish joint ventures and partnerships for scientific research, technology development, testing new techniques, and training human resources in the field of plant protection with domestic organizations, as per legal requirements.

Engage in business activities in accordance with legal regulations.

- Effectively manage and utilize human resources, financial resources, and assets in compliance with legal provisions.
