Soils and Fertilizers Research Institute
Develops strategies, programmes, projects and plans for research and technology transfer in soils, fertilisers and micro-organisms, and carries them out once approved.

The Soils and Fertilizers Research Institute is a public research unit of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS). It conducts research, transfers technology and operates commercially in soils, fertilisers and micro-organisms, nationwide.
Duties
- Develop strategies, programmes, projects and plans for research and technology transfer in soils, fertilisers and micro-organisms, submit them for approval and carry them out.
- Conduct directed basic research and technology transfer in those fields.
- Trial and test fertilisers and soil improvement products.
- Deliver agricultural and forestry extension work on fertiliser use and land use.
- Contribute to planning and to agricultural land use plans.
- Cooperate internationally on research, technology transfer, expert exchange and training in soils, fertilisers and micro-organisms.
- Advise, provide services and transfer research results in soils, fertilisers and micro-organisms. Partner with domestic organisations on research and development, trials of new techniques and products, and workforce training in its assigned fields.
- Produce, trade in, import and export agricultural products.
- Manage and use its assigned staff, funding and assets effectively.
People
As of March 2023 the institute had 146 staff: 20 with doctorates (2 of them associate professors), 73 with master's degrees, 30 engineers and bachelor's graduates, and 7 with other qualifications.
