The Centre for Technology Transfer and Agricultural Extension belongs to the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It is one of the academy's 18 constituent units and its focal point for technology transfer and agricultural extension.

The centre traces its history back to 1956.

  • 1956–1987: Van Dien Agricultural Experiment Station.

  • 1988–1994: Rice Centre (still using the Van Dien Agricultural Experiment Station seal at this time), formed by merging the Van Dien station with the rice breeding department of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

  • 1994–2004: Van Dien Agricultural Experiment Station again, after the station and the department were separated.

  • 2004–2006: Centre for Technology Transfer and Agricultural Extension under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, formed by merging the Van Dien station with the Centre for Transfer of Agricultural Technical Advances.

  • 2006–2008: Food Crops and Field Crops Experimental Centre, Site II, under the Field Crops Research Institute, after the transfer centre and the experimental centre merged.

  • 2008–July 2010: Centre for Technology Transfer and Agricultural Extension under the Field Crops Research Institute.

  • July 2010 to today: Centre for Technology Transfer and Agricultural Extension under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It is one of the academy's 18 constituent units and its focal point for technology transfer and agricultural extension.
